HI! My name is Emilie Ward, owner of Paws Awhile Pet Services. My love of animals began at an early age. I grew up with a Sheltie named Chloe and many other strays I convinced my mom to let me keep. These included hamsters, fish, a turtle, and a goose!

Once I graduated from college and moved out on my own, I was able to really add to my “farm.” Currently this menagerie consists of a Basset Hound named Rudy, a Lab named Natalie, a Doberman named Wilson, two cats, Glory and Giovanni, and one bird named Chicken.

I have spent many years in the corporate world but really found my passion when I worked part time at Veterinary hospitals. I loved every minute of it! I really enjoy getting to know and working with other people and their animals. Others have often said of me that I have a very special way with animals. That’s just one of the many reasons I have decided to start this new business venture. Because I want nothing but the best for my animals, I want to help the many others who feel the same way.

Another reason I decided to start this business was after the eye opening experience of adopting the Doberman. Finding out the hard way I now owned a dog that is very high energy and WAY smarter than I am! I really have to work at keeping him physically and mentally challenged. I started taking him to The Brown Dog School for obedience classes every week, but on the days he didn't have class he was still bored. So I began taking all my dogs to doggy daycare. It was hard to find a good (and affordable) doggy daycare close to my house that has the right hours. My solution - take them all on walks EVERY DAY.

Now just imagine being able to go about your normal daily activities and have someone come into your home and give your dog the mental and physical stimulation they so desire and need—without the inconvenience of dropping them off before work, picking them up on your way home,  worrying about all the illnesses they can potentially pick up at a kennel, or having to take them on a walk after a long hard day at work. This sounded like a good idea to me, so I decided to do it myself!

Not only do we give your dog daily mental and physical activity, but we can also care for them while you are out of town, enabling them to stay in the comfort of their own homes.  We have all logged many hours working with animals of all kinds. (By the way, we offer the same services for cats!)

We look forward to talking to you and playing with your pets soon!
